History
|
Fos |
The fortified castle rises up in the heart of the village. By the 15th / 16th century it had become a humble second residence. The lords here were amongst the first to go on the crusades: in 1142, Pontius de FOS was present at Tripoli. This particular family was known for its humane attitude towards the populace. The last in line sold his domain to the inhabitants of the village in 1834 and for a long time afterwards the latter remembered his generous nature.
